My girlfriend recently brought out her record player and I figured I'd get some metal vinyls since I've always been curious. Suden Uni's already out and the rest of the Moonsorrow recordings are, of course, being released in however many months, but I was wondering if you guys have any vinyl recommendations in the mean time. So far I've only picked up Darkthrone's Under a Funeral Moon because it seemed like the kind of thing you ought to be getting on vinyl. I've also seen Drudkh vinyls at record stores on occasion and would pick one of those up if I saw one now.

Do you guys have any recommendations though? Let me know!

The vinyl I own/buy is mostly rock and metal from the 70s and 80s. All those Iron Maidens and Judas Priests and Pink Floyds and Gary Moores. I'm not too fond of black metal in vinyl, I don't really like how it sounds. Although I must also admit my record player is old and of bad quality.

Bathory does sound nice in it, though. Too bad Bathory records are so fokken expensive, which I can understand in the case of the rare original pressings, but not in the recent re-releases - they don't even have anything special... :/

Anything on vinyl :-) I recently sold off my 3000+ cd collection and am now only buying vinyl. There's just something about that lovely format that rules the world ;)

I'm starting a collection, I have the puzzling amount of 20 vinyls XD half metal half classic, I have a question, how do you keep them? Is it safe to put them on a shelf? Do they need a certain temperature? Any tip will help.

Always keep them standing. If they lay down they will get ring-wear over time. No need to worry about temperatures and stuff. The IKEA-shelf called Expedit is used by vinyl lovers world-wide!

Thank you, I need to buy plastic then, and inner paper thing, some are 2nd hand and missing it.
I was thinking about wood boxes, so I can flip them, like in stores, when I'm looking for one.
I was told the expedit shelf is bad. Anyway, I don't have enough space to put it in my place ^___^

Yes, the paper thing is important, and put it into the sleeve with the opening always up. Otherwise the disc may roll, fall, crash, ouiiin!

Well, an easier way is keeping them just like CDs and in alphabetical order :P just suggesting!

I think the "classic" albums of Bathory and Falkenbach should be in every vinyl collection! :)

Funny you should say that! I just picked up Blood Fire Death on vinyl about a week ago.
